Summer is a birthdays season!
This is one of a gift I made for 2 years old girl of my friend.
I estimated the strings length, I hope it would work for her. In the case of it's too short, I put 2 of D rings on both sides, so my friend would be able to change the strings to longer one easily. I looked for a adjuster, but could not get the right size one.
My friend has a blog (written in Japanese). I sometimes check it to know how she is doing. Her sentences and her daughter make me smile naturally. I hope her daughter would like the bag! I didn't put any closure on the bag, because I thought it might be difficult for 2 years old girl to open and to close with the closure. So I made the top cover wider instead. I feel like my friend would say "A 2 years old girl can do many things easily than you think!" though.

Skipping up to this entry! The bag is adorable. I especially love the fabric you used for the center stripe. And little children love bags--they love anything they can put objects into and take things out of. But that bag is so nice a woman of any age could use it!
ReplyDeleteYour 4th of July and the restaurant meal sounds nice. I love Bloody Marys! If they are too spicy, you don't have to use the Bloody Mary mix, or you can use a smaller amount of it, so that it tastes mostly of tomato juice. We ordered Vietnamese food last week, which is a treat for us. My older daughter loves all kinds of unusual foods, which fascinates me because I was a very picky eater as a child. I am glad she takes after my husband in this way.
My son never got used to the camp last week, unfortunately. He kept complaining about it. Oh well--I got some free time.
Oh, the kids are asking for dinner. I will check in again soon!
Hello again! Thank you so much for teaching me those two phrases! I shall try to practise them until they sound right. Haha... I'm not really learning Japanese. At least not formally. But I love to use Japanese phrases! They carry a certain attitude with them! Like, Gambatte! You can't find a similar phrase in English.

ReplyDeleteThe bag is now going to the receiver :) I checked my friend's blog today, the latest entry was saying they went to Gion festival (http://users.cihost.com/ata/gionmatsuri.html). Her daughter didn't have a bag on the photo she showed, I expect the bag could be the first bag in her daughter's life! :D
To have international food is fun. I like Vietnamese food too! It's nice for your daughter to enjoy all kinds of unusual foods! Sometimes, you have to be brave, though. I love Pho (noodle soap)! The taste is simple, but delicious.
I am sorry for your son couldn't enjoy the camp! I hope he founds a way to enjoy it! I am a indoor person, and seldom do outdoor activity though, I started to recognize that to do something unusual is fun when I grew up.

Gambatte is translated as Good job in English, but it's not that meaning. Gambatte is the word for cheering up.
Thank you for the idea of the bag for a little girl. I have 2 more friends who has 1~1.5 years old, I will put a magnetic snap next time! :) Thanks!
Can I use "gambatte ne?" as "Work hard, okay?"
