Happy New Year, again!
I made Japanese New Year meal "Ozoni" this morning. I think most of Japanese family would make Ozoni on the New Year's day. It is made with fish stock, soy sauce, sake, sometimes miso, vegetables, meat, and mochi (rice cake).
My mother's Ozoni was always made with only Nappa and mochi, I remember I was shocked when I heard from friends that their Ozoni is much more gorgeous than my mother's when I was a little.
I wasn't enough motivated to get Japanese food to cook really Japanese style Ozoni, so I made it with what I had in the refrigerator. My house mate said "this is actually good!", so I am happy :D
