Art class in Spring 2019

This semester, I enrolled in "Fundamental Design 1" at the community college. The class began last Monday, 14th, but we had a snow storm and classes were canceled. The art class is offered once a week. It is 4 hours long including a lab.

I always wanted to take an art class, so finally, the time has come! I sometimes wonder myself that why I did not try to obtain a B.A. in fine arts, but at the same time, my choice of psychology and environmental science was right. I do not think I can support myself with my artwork anyway, and what I studied at college was more practical to understand this society better. Sheldon Cheney defined Art "the formal expression of a conceived image or imagined conception in terms of a given medium," and in order to conceive an image, I have to know what already exists.

I received an email from the instructor that introducing himself. He is quite impressive!

So, I introduced myself back to him with the images of my tapestries. My theme often associates with religion, but I do not take any religious practices. I am interested in the sociological and psychological aspects of religion because I believe religion is one of human nature. Last spring, I joined the class "Philosophy of Religion" and I often wondered why we need to prove God. I thought it's a waste of time. Religion is rational. God is real for people who want God. Why do they argue? - I know this is not the point of the class, though.

"Call - waiting for God (2014)"
I tried to depict a town is ready and waiting for receiving a message from their god or what they respect.

"Ascending to Religion (2018)"

We have land, lakes, families, tribes, and town or city that has developed their version of culture and language. They communicate with each other and are heading for the discovery of god or developing their own god from their myths.

I wish I could make at least one tapestry like these a year.

Since I have not taken any art classes before, I thought it is a good idea to learn about art in a proper way. I am excited about having a lot of fun in class this semester, unlike last semester - macroeconomics.
