One of my dreams came true...!
A quilt holder in a sunny room.
Taking a picture of the entire quilt is so much trouble for me, as I did not have a quilt holder. I did not have a nice sofa or couch, or nice grass or a deck to create a tasteful picture so I really hoped to have a quilt holder with a simple background.
I actually tried with the wall of my shed last year; I attached some hangers to hold a pole but it was hard to adjust sunlight, also sometimes the wind does not cooperate with me. Now, this quilt holder is in the Florida room that sunlight starts to get in after 2pm that gives enough light for picture taking.
It can hold up to a 60x80 inches quilt which is the maximum size that I can deal with.
Moreover, we finally got a couch in the Florida room! - the family room is used as a working room for us and it's not a place for relaxing. One side of the room is occupied with my husband's station (computers, amateur radio things, printers...) and bookcases are taking two sides, and the rest of one side has a front door and my cat likes to sit by the big main window next to the front door. My second sewing machine and a big cutting mat are sitting on a big working table in the center of the room (I have a sewing room with my main sewing machine).
I did not know the relaxation of having a couch until we got it. I did not grow up with a couch. Japanese houses are small. I told my husband how happy I am with my new experience with the couch. He said "I know. Many people think of a couch first when they move in a new home." Since I found happiness with the couch, it became my favorite station (Actually, my cat found it quicker than me). It's so nice to do embroidery or hand sewing etc. on the couch! It's so comfortable to watch a movie on the couch! Having wine and cheese on the couch! Wooooow......
And, since the couch is placed on the opposite side of the quilt holder in the Florida room, it gives me a nice scene with quilts.
The quilt holder and the couch will make the picture taking process much easier! I don’t have to fight with too strong sunlight and reflection from it and wind outside or artificial colors created by fluorescent light and always too dark. Someone told me before that inside on a sunny day with natural light is the best setting for taking pictures of small sewing items. I think that is true. Anyway, I’m happy!
